Ione Delores Hiller Barker of Burbank died on Sunday December, 25, 2011, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.. She was 83. Ione was born on February 18, 1928 in Plymouth, WI. Ione was survived by her three daughters, Kathleen “Kitty” Skinner (Steve, Linda Martin (Larry), and Rebecca “Becca” Platt (Bob); three grandchildren, Hannah Martin, Peter Martin (Shelley) and James Platt; and two great-grandchildren, Harley and Caleb Heath. Ione graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1949. Ione moved to California in 1957. She taught art and English in Banning High School in Banning, Glendora High School in La Cañada, and Azusa before moving to Burbank, where she was an art teacher at John Muir Middle School for 29 years. Ione enjoyed reading, bridge, art, and movies. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, California Retired Teachers Association, Burbank University Women, and President of the Joslyn Bridge Group. She attended the Burbank First Presbyterian Church; she was a deacon and member of the Prayer Team. Friends and relatives are invited to the Memorial Service on Sunday January 15, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Burbank First Presbyterian Church, 521 E. Olive Avenue, Burbank, CA 91501. Omega Society.
