Brush fire breaks out along L.A. River

A quarter-acre brush fire erupted along the Los Angeles River Monday afternoon near Victory Boulevard and Riverside Drive in Glendale, officials said.

The fire was knocked down just before 5 p.m. after two water drops by a Los Angeles Fire helicopter, an hour and 11 minutes after it was reported, according to a tweet posted by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

More than 50 firefighters responded to the scene, according to the tweet.

While the fire was in the city of Los Angeles, firefighters from Glendale and Burbank were also on the scene, along with Glendale police, the California Highway Patrol and the National Park Service, according to Glendale Fire spokeswoman Brandy Villanueva.

Police had blocked off the Victory Boulevard bridge to traffic, she added.

No injuries were reported.

Details on how the fire started were not available.
