With temperatures expected to reach triple digits this week, city officials in Glendale are encouraging seniors to stay out of the sun at one of four cooling stations in the community.

The National Weather Service predicts a high of 95 on Tuesday, 100 on Wednesday and 98 on Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to drop to the low 90s by the weekend.

The cooling center sites are equipped with board and card games, TVs and free iced water.

Officials are also advising residents to avoid going outdoors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., to drink plenty of water and to reduce physical activity to avoid dehydration. Symptoms of dehydration can include dizziness, fatigue, faintness, headaches, rapid heartbeat, muscle cramps and increased thirst. Anyone experiencing those symptoms should seek immediate medical attention or call 911.
