Crescenta Valley Major All-Stars lose Section 2 opener

Victory was within reach of the Crescenta Valley Major All-Stars in their Section 2 Tournament opener on Saturday. That was until the fifth inning.

Trailing District 40 champion Encino by a run, the wheels came off in an unfortunate way for the locals, who ended up on the losing end of a 14-5 final Saturday afternoon at Sierra Madre Little League in the tournament opener for both teams.

Heading into the fifth inning, Crescenta Valley, the District 16 champion, trailed just 6-5.

Crescenta Valley will now face West Lancaster or Arcadia American at 3 p.m. Sunday with the winner advancing to a Monday game at 6 p.m. and the loser going home from the four-team, double-elimination tournament.
