Dawn Lindsay’s email to the GCC community

Share

The following is an email Glendale Community College President/Supt. Dawn Lindsay sent out to the campus community Thursday morning.

I had hoped to keep the following information personal but realize there is a need for me to make a public statement to the campus. As many of you know, I am from Maryland and have strong family ties to the east coast. Glendale News Press learned I was a finalist for a position on the east coast. I had hoped to keep this to myself, and my family, until a decision needed to be made but learned GNP plans to announce this today. Therefore, I feel a sense of urgency as I don’t want the campus to learn about this from GNP before you hear it from me.Although I have been recruited by other colleges, both in California and outside of CA, I have not applied. This opportunity is one I am interested in. A mutually considered decision will be made no later than the end of next week -- and maybe in time for the Town Hall meeting on Wednesday. In the interim, I plan to spend the rest of my vacation reflecting on this opportunity and spending time with family and friends.I need to share this is not about leaving Glendale as I enjoy the college and everyone I work with. This decision is clearly personal as I realize I am at a stage of my life where I need to reflect on the decisions that are in  the best interest of my family. I thank you in advance for your understanding of my desire for privacy as I had not planned to share this unless a decision was made for me to leave Glendale. As of now, that decision has not been made.Dawn
