Early season heat wave to bump temperatures in L.A. region
Temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s and reach record highs in some locations during an early season heat wave in the Southland this week, forecasters said.
Gusty northeast winds are anticipated Tuesday through Thursday in the Los Angeles County mountains and valleys, according to the National Weather Service.
“It is possible that temperatures could reach 100 degrees in a few locations. Some record high temperatures will likely be set this week, especially Wednesday and Thursday, when the records for those particular days are generally lower,” the National Weather Service reports.
The high is predicted to reach 95 on Tuesday, 93 on Wednesday, 97 on Thursday and 93 on Friday in the Glendale area. In La Cañada, the high could reach 90 on Tuesday, 88 on Wednesday, 92 on Thursday and 88 on Friday.
The combination of high temperature and single-digit humidity has added a heightened fire danger in local mountains from Tuesday through Thursday, forecasters said.
Officials urge people to drink water, wear light clothing and check on neighbors, especially elderly.
