Former Glendale Community College football player Joshua Stangby signs with Atlanta Falcons

Joshua Stangby has traveled a long road to come a long way.

From North Hollywood High to Glendale Community College and then stops at L.A. Valley College and Ottawa University in Kansas.

That journey has now taken him to a hopeful spot in the NFL, as the former Vaqueros’ all-conference selection has agreed to terms with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent.

News was released on atlantafalcons.com Wednesday of the free agent signing, but the Ottawa school website reported Sunday that Stangby had been offered a tryout with Atlanta.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Stangby was an All-Northern Division National Conference second-team selection as a return specialist for Glendale in 2008. He then transferred to Valley, where he was a first-team All-Pacific Conference American Division pick as a receiver in 2009.

At Ottawa, Stangby once more dazzled as a receiver and returner, earning All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference honors for the NAIA school in both seasons he played.

As a senior, he had 958 yards and 13 touchdowns on 52 receptions, averaging 18.4 yards per catch and 87.1 a game.

Stangby was one of 19 undrafted free agents signed by the Falcons.

Up next will be a Falcons rookie mini-camp that begins Friday.
