Update: Glendale brush fire 40% contained
Update: A brush fire burning in the hills north of Glendale is about 40% contained, fire officials said late Monday afternoon.

On Sunday evening, firefighters thought the fire above Brand Park would be fully contained by Monday morning, said Dan Bell, community relations coordinator for the city of Glendale.
There were approximately 100 ground fire personnel Monday morning, he said, though there were as many as 180 firefighters battling the blaze during the day on Sunday.
No evacuations have been ordered and no structures have been damaged, officials said. Brand Park remained closed on Monday while crews worked to knock down the fire.
Two firefighters were hit by falling rocks and one suffered minor scrapes, but no one was seriously injured, Bell said.
Numerous agencies have been on scene including firefighters from Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, Los Angeles city as well as Los Angeles County Fire.
Extra crews brought in throughout the evening as well as a bulldozer on loan from the city of Los Angeles have kept the flames from further spreading, he added.
“We brought in a bulldozer that worked throughout the night to create a perimeter, to cut around the fire to keep it contained,” he said.
If weather conditions hold, the brush fire will hopefully be out by Monday evening, Bell said.
On Sunday, three hikers were rescued via airlift, and two others walked out on their own, officials said.
The fire, reported at 10 acres shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday, quickly grew to 50 acres, according to said Glendale Fire Battalion Chief Bill Lynch. It had tripled in size by 10 p.m. that evening.
