Glendale PD to host fundraiser for upcoming Police Unity Tour

Glendale police are hosting a fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen on Wednesday for the annual Police Unity Tour, a 300-mile bike ride from New York City to Washington, D.C. to support families of officers killed in the line of duty.

Glendale will send 10 riders to the event next week, including the son of slain Glendale Police Officer Charles “Chuck” Lazzaretto, who was shot and killed in 1997 by a man he was looking to question about attempting to kill his girlfriend.

Lazzaretto’s former partner, along with seven Glendale officers and a Los Angeles officer who was injured attempting to rescue Lazzaretto, are also slated to participate.

“As long as there are officers added on that wall, there are survivors we have to support,” said Glendale Police Officer Sue Shine, referring to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in Washington, D.C.

For restaurant customers who present a flier available online, California Pizza Kitchen will donate 20% of their tab to the tour.
