Police have arrested 12 motorists in the past two weeks during operations aimed at drunk and drugged driving.

At least five drivers were taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at a police checkpoint Friday at Brand Boulevard and Vassar Street, according to Glendale police.

Also, police cited 14 motorists for alleged driver’s license violations and arrested a 30-year-old woman for alleged drug possession.

In a separate specialized DUI enforcement on March 28, seven drivers were arrested for alleged DUI.

The ongoing operations are part of a crackdown on drunk, distracted and speeding drivers.

Police received a $228,000 grant from the state’s Office of Traffic Safety in November to pay for 46 police enforcement operations and traffic-related education until Sept. 30.
