Glendale police search for home invasion suspect

Police Tuesday searched for an early morning home invasion suspect who was caught in the act when residents heard him smash a window, authorities said.

The forced entry was reported at around 4:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of Linden Ave., said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

A 32-year-old male living at the residence and his 63-year-old father were awakened by a loud crashing sound, Lightfoot said.

They walked to the living room where they encountered the suspect, described as an adult male Hispanic with a shaved head and no facial hair, she said. He’s believed to be in his teens or early 20s and was wearing a black shirt and dark-colored pants.

One of the residents told the suspect to leave, but he did not respond, Lightfoot said. He than ran out he back door on the west side of the residence without taking any property.

The two residents chased the suspect out the rear door of the home and through the backyard, Lightfoot said. The suspect ran toward Linden Avenue and then east through the block, she said.

The unidentified suspect used an unknown object to break the window next to the front door of the residence to gain entry, Lightfoot said.

A 60-year-old male witness living on Linden also spotted the suspect running eastbound, but was unable to describe him due to darkness, she said.
