Glendore Darkow Dayman June 9, 1917-Feb. 12, 2012

Glendore Darkow Dayman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 12, 2012 to join her husband (who died in 1964). She was born on June 9, 1917) in Gaylord, Minnesota to William (who was a barber there) and Lydia Darkow. Glendore graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Wisconsin. She was proficient in German, Literature, Accounting, and was an accomplished pianist. She worked at the courthouse (in Arlington MN) in the Accounting Department and gave private piano lessons for several years before moving to Santa Monica, California.
Shortly thereafter, while working there in a jewelry store she met Bain Dayman (a graduate of the American Baptist Theological Seminary), who also studied medicine and surgery at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles. He was a musician ever since he was a child in the Ukraine: a singer, a choir director, and a renowned voice coach and specialist in Hollywood, California (he was published in ”Who’s Who in Los Angeles”). She became an accompanist for him and his students, many of who were celebrities on records, radio, movies, and television. They married in 1947 and had two children. Their main focus in life, in addition to raising a family, was to share their love of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through music. Their favorite bible verse was John 3:16. Glendore and her daughter Annette moved from Burbank, California to Portland, Oregon in 2008.
Glendore is survived by her daughter and her daughter’s children Cheri Rodriguez (with her husband Phillip) and Ronald; her son Eugene with his wife Melinda. Also surviving are her stepson Bain, Jr. and his wife Evelyn with their three sons.
