Man arrested in connection with Burbank death

Los Angeles County Coroner’s investigators have released the name of the woman whose body ended up in a black Kia in Burbank Friday evening. Los Angeles Police have arrested an apparent suspect in the case.

Dorothy Jean McGuire, 37, died near La Tuna Canyon Road and the 210 (Foothill) Freeway in the Sunland-Tujunga district of Los Angeles, police said. Her companion, David Andrew Perry, 43, drove her body to his Burbank residence.

When McGuire, who lived in Sunland, did not return home, her boyfriend went to Perry’s home to check on her, police said. After discovering she was dead, the boyfriend, who police have not identified, called authorities.

Detectives are investigating it as a homicide, Coroner Investigator Jim Blacklock said.

Jail records confirm that the LAPD arrested a suspect connected to the residence where the body turned up.

Perry, 43, is in the LAPD’s Van Nuys jail in lieu of a $1 million bail.

Jail records show that officers from LAPD’s Foothill Division made the arrest on Friday. They took over the investigation when Burbank Police detectives determined that McGuire died within Los Angeles city limits.

LAPD detectives said Perry took them to the area where McGuire died. Burbank Fire Department officials pronounced McGuire dead when they responded to the call in the 500 block of North Sparks Street Friday evening.

She was sitting in a car parked in the driveway of the house that belongs to Perry’s parents. Neighbors say that Perry has also lived at that address.

The coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
