Man arrested on suspicion of evading police
A 30-year-old Montrose man was arrested last week for allegedly leading authorities on a high-speed freeway pursuit, going as fast as 115 mph, police said.
At around 2:30 p.m. on April 30, Blondel Vivas was driving southbound on the Glendale (2) Freeway from the Foothill (210) Freeway interchange in a black Acura sedan when he reportedly sped past officers who were in unmarked police cars, said Tahnee Lightfoot, a spokeswoman with the Glendale Police Department.
Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop using their lights and sirens, but Vivas allegedly failed to stop, Lightfoot said.
He reportedly continued to speed in and out of traffic, slowing and accelerating again for six miles until he exited on York Avenue, where he quickly turned to avoid hitting a big-rig truck and stopped, Lightfoot said.
Vivas was taken into custody without incident and was arrested on suspicion of evading police, which is a felony, she said.
He has since bonded out for $75,000. The case has yet to be filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
