Man pleads not guilty to drug charges

A Los Angeles man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to drug charges after Glendale police stopped his friend’s car and reportedly found more than five dozen Xanax pills near him, officials said.

Prosecutors charged Edward Rawlinson, 28, with two counts of drug sale and possession, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records.

Police stopped Rawlinson and his friend at 11:19 p.m. Friday for an alleged seat-belt violation at Orange Grove Avenue and Everett Street, according to Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

Officers reportedly recognized Rawlinson, who was a passenger in the car, from previous run-ins, so they began investigating and searched his friend’s car.

Inside the car, police found 66 Xanax pills and an ounce of methamphetamine near where Rawlinson was sitting, she said.

Police also arrested Rawlinson’s friend on suspicion of drug possession, but he was not been charged.
