Man shot after allegedly breaking into house

A Glendale man was shot and injured while allegedly robbing a home in Van Nuys on Monday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Around 11 p.m., Grachia Nalbanyan, 25, gained entry into a residence in the 6200 block of Matilija Avenue, Officer Sara Faden said.

Nalbanyan came across the homeowner and attacked him, but the victim managed to shoot the suspect with a handgun, Faden said.

Nalbanyan was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and was already on probation for firearms possession.

Paramedics transported Nalbanyan to a local hospital, but was later cleared for booking. He was transported to the Los Angeles County Jail, where he will continue to receive treatment for his injury, Faden said.
