Glendale Fire Department holds graduation ceremony

The Glendale Fire Department welcomed 14 new graduates on Thursday from Fire Recruit Academy.

The ceremony was held at Glendale Fire Station #21, where each firefighter was presented their badge, helmet shield, belt buckle, and a certificate of appointment.

Fire Chief Harold Scoggins closed the ceremony by administering the department’s oath of office to the new recruits.

The department’s newest members successfully completed 13 weeks of basic training at the fire academy and will continue training through the coming year.

Glendale’s new firefighters include Matthew Andrew, Shane Baker, Timothy Bird, Greg Blikian, Nathan Chaim, Andy Galvan, John Giovanini, Grant Hardyment, Shawn Lawrence, Daniel May, Guy McDermott, Amanda Thoensen, Stanley Woo and Jeffrey Wood.
