A Glendale man was arrested Thursday for leading police on a vehicle pursuit while allegedly harboring his father — a felon wanted for skipping sentencing for fraud in a small Nebraska town, police said.

At around 5:20 p.m., Glendale and Pasadena police assigned to the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force were following a vehicle on the Foothill (210) Freeway in La Crescenta, said Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

The car was being driven by Ghukas Saydkhanyan, 19, who allegedly drove as fast as 100 mph, while weaving in and out of traffic prior to exiting on Sunland Boulevard in Tujunga, she said.

His father, Gagik Sayadkhanian, had been arrested and convicted of fraud in Kearney, Neb., after he was caught using a credit-card skimming device and acquiring thousands of dollars, said Capt. Mike Kirkwood of the Kearney Police Department.

He fled prior to his sentencing and a warrant was issued for his arrest, Kirkwood added.

Saydkhanyan spells his last name as his grandfather did, Lightfoot said.

Upon exiting the freeway, Saydkhanyan was found in his car at the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Fenwick Street, she said.

His father was found inside a nearby Coco’s restaurant, where he was taken into custody, Lightfoot said.

Sayadkhanian was arrested for allegedly evading police and harboring a felon. His bail was set at $75,000.
