Keppel students perform ‘The Little Mermaid’
Fourth- and fifth-graders at Mark Keppel Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School performed a theatrical adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” at Hoover High School this week under the direction of Keppel teacher Jennifer Epstein.
Many of the students who performed in the show belong to 45-member show choir that earned a gold rating earlier this year at a musical festival in Anaheim, where many of their competitors were older.
The rating put them in the national top 10% of students in their age group, Epstein said.
Since January, the students have been rehearsing for “The Little Mermaid” and presented two performances this week.
“It was a fantastic show,” Epstein said.
