Unemployment rates rise slightly in Burbank, Glendale

Unemployment rates in Burbank and Glendale ticked up last month with educational and health services reporting the largest cutbacks across Los Angeles County, according to the latest labor report.

The jobless rates increased by 0.2% in both cities, with Burbank coming in at 6.6% and Glendale reporting a 7.1% rate, according to statistics released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.

Statewide, the unemployment rate was 7.4% last month, down from 7.6% in May and 9% in June 2013.

The jobless rates in the La Crescenta-Montrose area and La Cañada Flintridge edged up by 0.1% in both communities, coming in at 4% and 3.1% respectively.
