Visitors can take a self-guided tour of 21 notable buildings in the city’s core, including the First United Methodist Church and the Glendale Main Post Office, on Saturday as the Glendale Historical Society and the city’s Historic Preservation Commission team up to celebrate Preservation Month in May.

The walking tour is set to run from 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., according to a historical society news release. Participants can pick up a tour booklet and map at the Municipal Services Building, 633 E. Broadway.

Organizers plan to install a bronze plaque to commemorate the Municipal Services Building’s designation as Glendale’s 100th historic landmark. Refreshments will be served.

On May 21, the historical groups are slated to share the ins and outs of nominating a property to be on Glendale’s Register of Historic Resources at their event called “Landmark This, Glendale!”

The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Seeley’s Building, 1800 S. Brand Blvd.
