Officials urge residents to seek relief from heat
With temperatures expected to reach triple digits today, city officials encourage seniors to seek relief at one of four cooling stations in Glendale.
The centers are equipped with games, a TV and ice water for visitors.
They can provide needed relief as forecasters expect temperatures will reach 100 degrees today and remain high at 98 on Friday.
The extreme heat is expected to diminish during the weekend.
Still, officials advise residents to avoid going outdoors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., drink of plenty of water and reduce physical activity.
Residents who feel dizzy, fatigued or experience headaches, a rapid heartbeat, muscle cramps or increased thirst may be suffering dehydration or heat cramps and are urged to seek medical attention.
