Police looking for alleged La Crescenta church burglar

Police are looking for a man who may have burglarized a La Crescenta church, which has been a target for thieves in the past.

The man entered the Central Christian Church in the 4400 block of Lowell Avenue at 2:11 p.m. on March 20 and unsuccessfully attempted to open a door, according to Glendale police.

The man, however, apparently entered the building a different way, as a surveillance camera recorded him using a white cloth to handle items and rummage through drawers inside the church.

The video also indicates he moved the camera to conceal his actions, police said.

While police don’t know what was stolen, if anything, from the church, it has been burglarized in the past.

Church officials told police that several thefts were not reported to authorities, except for a recent incident where an iPhone 5S was stolen.

Police are trying to determine whether the man is tied to the previous thefts.

The man is described as bald, 30 to 40 years old, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 and 250 to 275 pounds with a heavy build.
