Glendale police will be on the lookout for drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol over Memorial Day weekend by conducting a roving saturation patrol as well as a checkpoint at an undisclosed location in the city.

The state-funded patrol will be deployed from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, and the DUI checkpoint will be set up from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday.

In the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed one life in Glendale and injured 87 people, according to police.

Police at the checkpoint will also be looking for unlicensed drivers.

The most recent local sobriety checkpoint was conducted in May and led to the arrest of three people on suspicion of drunk driving.
