Roundup: Crescenta Valley baseball sits in first place all by itself


Crescenta Valley 8, Muir 0: The Falcons improved to 17-7-1, 10-1-1 in the Pacific League with Friday's league road win and, in the process, end up in first place all by their lonesome after Burroughs upset Arcadia, 1-0, to break a first-place tie between Crescenta Valley and rival Arcadia. .

Jimmy Smiley and Joe Torres teamed up on the mound to allow two hits and strike out 12.

Bryan Wang had a pair of hits and Michael Russo, Chase Walker and Weston Walker drove in runs for the Falcons.

Crespi 4, St. Francis 2: The host Golden Knights fell Friday in a Mission League contest at Jackie Robinson Field. St. Francis dropped to 7-16, 1-9 in league.

Flintridge Prep 10, Chadwick 2: The Rebels won their fifth straight game Thursday, earning a Prep League road victory.

Flintridge Prep (13-6-1, 8-2 in league) locked up second place with two games to go and will play at first-place Pasadena Poly on Tuesday, needing to win out and for Poly to lose out to share a piece of the league title for a second year in a row.

Brendan McKiernan had a big day for the Rebels on the mound and at the plate. He finished with four hits, including three doubles, drove in two runs and scored a pair of runs. The right-hander picked up the victory, allowing one hit and striking out seven in five innings.

Flintridge Prep’s Hamilton Evans had two hits, two runs, two stolen bases and an RBI. Teammate Cole Rademacher added two hits, a run and an RBI.
