Following the gutsiest of victories and a long layoff, Sevak “Silverback” Magakian will return to mixed martial arts action Thursday night in the main event of Tachi Palace Fights 19 “Throwback Thursday” when he takes on Christos “The Spartan” Giagos.

Emanating from Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, TPF 19 will stream live on sherdog.com with the 12-fight card commencing at 6 p.m. and concluding with Magakian facing off with Giagos in a lightweight main event.

Glendale’s Magakian, who brings a 13-5-1 record into Thursday, is a former “The Ultimate Fighter” castmember and a Bellator Fighting Championships veteran that trains out of Main Event Gym in Glendale and Hayastan Academy in North Hollywood.

Giagos (8-2) is a veteran to the Southern California fight scene, having collected victories in his last two bouts via technical knockout on Lights Out Promotions’ Chaos at the Casino events.

In April at Chaos at the Casino 4, Giagos defeated Preston Scharf and on Nov. 23, 2013 at Chaos 3, he stopped Thor Skancke on a card headlined by Magakian’s unanimous decision win over Chris Saunders.

In the bout against Saunders, Magakian injured his left foot early in the first round, but limped through the rest of the fight and still won. He also injured his left hand in the bout. Roughly six months later, Magakian will return to the cage.

Giagos has won five bouts via TKO or knockout, but both his losses have come by submission via choke. Magakian, consequently, has won nine of his 13 fights via submission.
