BOYS’ SOCCER
St. Francis 3, Harvard-Westlake 1: Mark Verso, Derek Bell and Connor Snashall scored for the Golden Knights (5-6) in their Mission League road opener Wednesday.
“I think it was our most complete game so far,” St. Francis Coach Glen Appels said. “Harvard on the road is a big win. A win on the road is all you can hope for in your first [league] game.”
Chadwick 3, Flintridge Prep 1: The Rebels opened Prep League play with a road loss Wednesday. David Russell scored for Prep (3-5-2) off a Jesse Redding assist.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Oakwood 4, Glendale Adventist Academy 2: Melissa Yeghiazarian scored two goals for the Cougars off assists from Erica Palafox and Karla Fernando in a Liberty League match at the Glendale Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Dakota White notched seven saves in goal for Glendale Adventist, which fell to 0-7 and 0-3 in league.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Flintridge Prep 81, Chadwick 42: Kenyatta Smith led the Rebels with 22 points and 17 rebounds in Wednesday’s Prep League opener on the road.
“It’s a good way to open on the road,” said Prep Coach Garrett Ohara, whose team was up, 22-5, after the first quarter. “We took care of business early.”
Kory Hamane added 16 points for Prep (8-4) and Robert Cartwright scored 15 points.
Harvard-Westlake 62, St. Francis 44: Zack Gardea led the way for the Golden Knights (8-7) with 15 points in Wednesday’s Mission League opener on the road.
Emerson Castaneda scored 15 points for St. Francis and Ben Maynard chipped in nine.
