Wojo, Seo lead dominant CV start

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Crescenta Valley 126, Saugus 39: Louis Wojciechowski doubled with wins in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 breaststroke and also played a part in winning both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay, with Young Tae Seo winning the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly, while taking part in the 200 free relay, as the Falcons picked up an emphatic nonleague win.

Seo won the 200 IM in 1 minute 52.73 seconds and took 100 fly, though the times were erroneous.

Wojciechowski took first in the 50 free in 21.28 and won the 100 breast in 1:00.52.

Harrison Thai won the 100 freestyle in 48.35 and Bassel Takidin took the 100 backstroke in 1:00.64.

In the 200 medley relay, Wojciechowski, Andrew DeJong, Shiraz Arslanian and Josh Lo won in 1:42.62. The 200 freestyle relay saw Wojciechowski, Seo, Josh Chi and Thai win in 1:28.38, while Lo, Rusty Blakey, Jason Suh and Antonio Camarillo won the 400 free relay in 3:29.41.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Crescenta Valley 87, Saugus 83: Freshman Iva Icheva won the 50-yard freestyle and led a sweep in the 100 backstroke as the Falcons narrowly won a nonleague dual meet on the road.

Icheva won the 50 free in 25.19 seconds and led the way in the 100 back (1:03.78), as CV took the top three spots in the race to extend a 64-60 lead to 77-63.

Daniella Camarillo won the 100 fly in 1:08.02, while Sabrina Hatzer, Dakoda Davy-Bertram, Mackenzie Hobby and Rachel Krebsbach teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:50.01.

BOYS’ TENNIS

St. Francis 11, Crespi 7: The Golden Knights got two sweeps in doubles to win their Mission League opener Tuesday at Cal State Northridge.

St. Francis (3-1) saw Daniel Gong and Gregory Park win, 6-0, 6-2, 6-0. Antonelo Gonzalez and Alex Kavakian teamed up for a sweep at 6-4, 6-4, 6-1.

Glendale 13, Campbell Hall 5: The visiting Nitros (5-2) received three sweeps Tuesday in a nonleague match at L.A. Valley College. Nick Shamma won, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, while Mike Unanian swept, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1. Glendale’s No. 1 doubles team of Jeff Asano and Elliot Kim also swept, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.

Hoover 17, Pasadena 1: Singles players Vardan Adzhinyan and Yervand Azatian each swept their sets Tuesday in a Pacific League road match.

Adzhinyan won, 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, while Azatian swept, 6-4, 6-3, 6-1, for Hoover (4-2, 3-2 in league).

Temple City 13, Flintridge Prep 5: The tandems of Kent Byun and Eric Kazangian and David Chou and Albert Lee won two sets apiece, but Alex Wood notched the only singles set for the Rebels (2-4) in Tuesday’s nonleague loss.

BASEBALL

South Pasadena 5, Glendale 1: The Nitros fell to 2-1 with Tuesday’s nonleague home loss.

Guillermo Morales doubled and scored the Nitros’ only run, while Angel Covarrudias had a pair of hits, including a double, and Zach Fields also had a double.

BOYS’ GOLF

Flintridge Prep 219, Azusa 231, Cathedral 256: Led by a two-over-par 35 by Jack Bouchard, the Rebels captured a tri-meet on Tuesday afternoon at the Altadena Golf Course.

Justin Farshidi had a 41, while Richard Lowell added a 44 and Will Guthrie notched a 45.

Chaminade 182, St. Francis 212: The Golden Knights continued to struggle on Tuesday afternoon at Woodland Hills Country Club.

Despite a three-over-par 38 by Richie Maloof and a 40 by Vince De Pinto, St. Francis fell to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the Mission League.

MEN’S TENNIS

Glendale Community College 9, Pima College (AZ.) 0: Alex Sarkissian continued his dominant season for the Vaqueros (7-5), winning in singles, 6-0, 6-0, and teaming up with Trevor Campbell for an 8-3 doubles win.

Campbell also swept, 6-3, 6-4, as did Stephan Mamman (6-2, 6-3), Grayson Frazier (6-1, 6-2), Andre Ratevossian (6-1, 6-2) and Dro Mahmoudi (7-6, 7-5).

Frazier and Mike Astorian won in doubles, 9-7, as did Mamman and Eric Khanlarian, 8-4.
