Roundup: Glendale college baseball falls in season opener

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Oxnard College 2, Glendale Community College 0: The host Vaqueros fell Monday in their season opener at Stengel Field. Glendale starting pitcher Angel Rodriguez went six innings, allowing one run and five hits. Jay Sheeley and Eddie Munoz had a pair of hits for the Vaqueros.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Chaminade 2, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 1: Nia Harris scored the lone goal for the visiting Tologs on Monday in a Mission League match. Sacred Heart goalkeeper Dani Garcia finished with 12 saves. The Tologs dropped to 8-5-2, 1-3-1 in league.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Antelope Valley College 66, Glendale Community College 62: Emmett Duvall finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds Saturday for the visiting Vaqueros in a Western State Conference South Division contest. Emerson Castaneda and Jalen Etienne had 11 points apiece for Glendale (15-4, 3-2 in division).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Antelope Valley College 76, Glendale Community College 67 (OT): The visiting Vaqueros fell Saturday in a Western State Conference South Division game. Gabriela Beltran had 15 points for Glendale, which was outscored, 12-3, in overtime. The Vaqueros (12-9, 3-2 in division) got 14 points from Elsie Mejia and 13 from Brenda Balbuena.
