In a development first publicized on his Twitter feed on Thursday, Martirosyan's upcoming 10-round fight against Ryan Davis (24-9-3, nine knockouts) will no longer be held June 16 at the
Instead, Martirosyan (32-0, 20 KOs) will fight on July 7 mere miles from his hometown and current residence of Glendale at the
Martirosyan's uncle and manager Serge Martirosyan confirmed the switch on Thursday.
"I talked to Top Rank [Thursday] to make sure it was official," Serge Martirosyan said. "Hopefully we will get a good crowd. [Vanes] is glad it's in L.A. It's in his hometown."
Martirosyan last fought in California on June 4, 2011 when he defeated Saul Roman at
"It will be good to come back home and give my fans thanks for their support," said Vanes Martirosyan, who is training for the fight with Freddie Roach. "It's better than going to Texas.
"I probably won't even stay at the hotel. I will stay home and it's always good to be home."
Martirosyan, who recently became a father, said being home with his wife and son will allow him to be more focused than when he takes to the road.
