Sports Roundup: Flintridge Prep’s Madi Witt takes second at dive finals

DIVING

CIF Southern Section Division III Diving Championships: Madi Witt of Flintridge Prep saw her attempt to win back-to-back CIF diving championships came up short Tuesday evening at Riverside Community College.

Witt, the Prep League champion, finished second to Immaculate Heart’s Olivia Rosendahl, who finished with a Division III-record 585.30 points to second-place Witt’s 533.60.

Witt, who won the Division III title last year, also finished second in 2012 in Division II.

The junior never led, as Rosendahl, who tallied four perfect 10s, led throughout. Witt, whose average score was a 7.30, had one 9.5.

Flintridge Prep’s Kara Bradley took eighth with 420.95 and teammate Kyla Bradley was 10th (391.15).

SOFTBALL

Crescenta Valley 20, Hoover 0 (five innings): The Falcons scored 11 first-inning runs en route to the mercy rule Pacific League win on Tuesday at home.

Crescenta Valley improved to 15-11, 8-5 in league. Hoover, which got two hits from Diana Ascencio, dropped to 7-15, 2-11 in league.

BASEBALL

Burbank 7, Glendale 6: Tied at 4 heading into the seventh in a Pacific League home contest, the Nitros allowed three runs and could muster just two in their half of the inning.

Glendale (7-15-1, 4-9 in league) got a complete game on the hill from Ethan Howard and three hits from Thad Wilson.
