Sports Roundup: Glendale High baseball improves to 2-0 in Pacific League

Glendale 12, Muir 8: The visiting Nitros picked up a Pacific League victory Friday. Glendale, which won its third straight game to improve to 5-7-1 and 2-0 in league, got three hits from Sean Harris and two apiece from Tyler Lousararian and Thad Wilson.

Loyola 15, St. Francis 0: The Golden Knights were no-hit by Loyola pitcher Nathan Hadley in a Mission League defeat on Friday afternoon.

With the loss. St. Francis dropped to 4-8, 0-6.

SOFTBALL

Mayfield 12, Flintridge Prep 1: The Rebels suffered a Prep League road loss Friday. Taylor Yoshida collected two hits for Flintridge Prep, which dropped to 3-8, 0-4 in league.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Orange Coast Classic: The Vaqueros picked up some impressive efforts at Friday’s meet at Orange Coast College. Earning individual first-place finishes for Glendale were Edwardo Vasquez in the 800-meter race in 1 minute 54.79 seconds, Marcus Streeter in the high jump at 1.90 meters and Quaid Vuncannon in the discus in 43.24 meters.

In addition, Glendale’s 4x100 relay team of Jonathan Smith, Streeter, Raymond Ou and Vuncannon took first in 43.31.

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Orange Coast Classic: Glendale received two individual first-place finishes from Elizabeth Nelson in Friday’s meet at Orange Coast College. Nelson won the 1,500-meter in 4 minutes 38.60 seconds and the 5K in 18:47.39. Justice Shank won the high jump in 1.70 meters.
