Sports Roundup: Hoover baseball off to 2-0 start

BASEBALL

Hoover 4, Granada Hills 3: Luis Zamora had a two-run double in the fourth inning to lead the visiting Tornadoes (2-0) to a victory Wednesday in the Southern California Invitational. Zamora’s double gave Hoover a 3-1 advantage.

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 10, Westridge 2: The visiting Tologs began their season Tuesday with a nonleague victory.

Charter Oak 3, Crescenta Valley 2 (eight innings): The Falcons dropped their season opener on the road Tuesday in extra innings, with Hailey Cookson knocking in a run in the top of the eighth for a 2-1 lead before Charter Oak scored two in the bottom of the inning for the win.

Cookson had two hits and two runs batted in, knocking in Adela Alatraca and Olivia Thayer. Thayer got the start in the circle and went the distance, allowing one run through the first seven innings. She allowed five hits, struck out two and walked none.

BOYS’ GOLF

Crescenta Valley 225, Pasadena 240: Matt Nickle had a six-over-par 42 on Tuesday for the Falcons (2-0) in a nonleague match at Altadena Golf Course. On Monday, Crescenta Valley started its season with a 196-237 nonleague victory against Burbank at De Bell Golf Club. The Falcons received two-over-par 38s from Paul Park, Cody Renfro and AJ Roa.
