Sports Roundup: Padilla heroics lead Glendale Community College baseball to first win

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 8, Mount San Antonio College 4 (12 innings): Nick Padilla had a game-winning bases-loaded double to spark the visiting Vaqueros (1-2) in a nonconference contest Thursday. Pitcher Keaton Leach picked up the victory in relief, while Carl Daniels threw 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball in relief.

MEN’S TENNIS

Glendale Community College 6, Saddleback College 3: The visiting Vaqueros (2-0) picked up a nonconference victory Thursday.

Glendale received singles wins from Hosep Orojian (6-1, 6-1), Dat Le (6-2, 2-6, 7-5), Cameron Braun (6-0, 7-5) and Santiago Segovia (2-6, 6-0, 6-4).

The Vaqueros got doubles wins from Orojian and Le (8-1) and Braun and Clayton Pauff (8-5).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Rio Hondo Prep 56, Flintridge Prep 51: The Rebels were upset on the road Thursday in Prep League action.

The Rebels, who lost their second straight in league play, are now 11-4 and 4-2 in league.

Bishop Conaty-Loretto 58, Holy Family 39: Charisse Talaro finished with 11 points Thursday for the visiting Gaels in a Horizon League contest. Melissa Chan added 10 points for Holy Family (4-16, 3-4 in league).

Alemany 67, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 29: The Tologs fell in Mission League action Thursday night, dropping their record to 6-16 and 1-5 in league.
