Seeking senior pageant contestants

The Ms. Senior Orange County Preliminary Pageant is seeking contestants for its March 25-26 pageants. Contestants who are among the top three winners are automatically entered in the statewide pageant in August. The Orange County Pageant will take place at the Buena Park Senior Center.

Contestants are asked to model and perform an entertainment act, as well as discuss lifetime experiences. To enter, a contestant must be 60 years or older and a U.S. citizen. ‘Music with Global Roots’ concert planned

Laguna Beach Live! and the Philharmonic Society will present a free community concert from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 11 at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St. Artists from the Laguna Beach Music Festival, which runs from Feb. 7 to 13, will perform. For more information, call (949) 497-2441.

Hummingbirds topic of talk

How to attract hummingbirds to your garden will be the topic of a presentation, “Jewels of Nature: Hummingbirds in Your Garden,” from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St. In addition, learn what to do if you find a lost hummingbird. Spanish language instruction begins

Spain’s Instituto Cervantes Spanish Virtual Classroom, a 16-week online interactive course in speaking Spanish, will begin soon. The course is Internet-based and includes online lessons as well as in-class instruction with Liliana Llebaria. The in-class instruction will take place at the Susi Q on from 2 to 3 p.m. beginning Wednesday through May 25. The cost is $150. For more information, call (949) 497-2441.

Beginning bridge classes set

Ann Cressman will teach beginning bridge lessons starting Feb. 18 for eight consecutive weeks at a cost of $95. Each session will start with a lesson on basic bidding techniques and responses. To sign up, call (949) 497-2441.

Floral Design classes offered

Debby Neville, floral design instructor, will teach floral design from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 11 and Feb. 18 at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St. The cost is $45 per class and includes materials to create an arrangement to take home. On Feb. 11, students will create a Valentine’s Day arrangement, and on Feb. 18, a garden design with a botanical trellis.
