In The Arts: ‘Having It All’ comes to Laguna Playhouse

The Laguna Playhouse will host an opening-night performance of the regional premiere of “Having It All” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday following a reception at 6 p.m.

Conceived by Wendy Perelman, the musical stars Lindsey Alley, Michelle Duffy, Kim Huber, Shannon Warne and Jennifer Leigh Warren.

Along with the musical direction of Gerald Sternbach, “Having It All” flaunts a book and lyrics by David Goldsmith of “Motown: The Musical” fame and music by John Kavanaugh of “Sofia the First.”

“The Full Monty” and “Avenue Q’s” Richard Israel directed this story of five women’s dreams and realizations — set against the backdrop of John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The show runs from March 5 to 31 at 606 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach.

Artists reception at Gallery Q

The Susi Q will present an artists reception at Gallery Q from 5 to 7 p.m. March 28.

The exhibit, at 380 Third St., Laguna Beach, will celebrate the creativity of artists older than 55 and showcase everything from monoprints to oil paintings.

Guests will have until 5:30 p.m. to vote for their favorites. Laguna Beach Mayor Kelly Boyd will present the Public’s Choice Awards at 6 p.m.

‘Dúo del Sol’ concert at LAM

The Laguna Art Museum will host “Dúo del Sol” from 7 to 8 p.m. March 14.

Based in Los Angeles, violinist Javier Orman of Montevideo, Uruguay, and guitarist Tom Farrell of Chicago will offer onstage dynamism while creating original music.

This event is part of Live! at the Museum, an ongoing series of early-evening concerts presented by Laguna Beach Live! that occurs on the second Thursday of each month

Admission is free to museum members and free to non-members with museum admission.
