South Coast Rep history on display at mall
The actors in South Coast Repertory’s new production may look a little on the stiff side. But in this case, that’s not a bad thing.
Saturday through Oct. 20, neighboring South Coast Plaza will feature a display on the history of the nearly 50-year-old Costa Mesa theater, with cut-out characters in costumes from past productions set up in the Jewel Court rotunda near Macy’s.
The exhibit also contains large color panels relating the history of the theater, which opened in 1964 and passed through a series of locations before settling in its current digs at 655 Town Center Drive in 1978.
According to a release from South Coast Repertory, the exhibit also spotlights community leaders who supported the theater over the years, plus its educational programs, family offerings and more. A video in the center of the rotunda will show images of past productions.
