A Laguna Beach man accused of engaging in animal cruelty has had his arraignment pushed back to Friday morning.

Jason Douglas Creager, 47, was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday after he allegedly did fatal harm to a family pet. He was arrested and charged with one felony count of cruelty to animals on Wednesday, April 27.

Calls to the Laguna Beach Police Department regarding the incident were not immediately returned, but the department’s public information officer, Sgt. Cornelius Ashton, said police responded to a call concerning a family disturbance at about 8:05 p.m., according to a City News Service report.

The report further stated Ashton said Creager’s family accused him of drowning the family dog.

Court documents show Creager received a mental health evaluation in advance of Tuesday’s court appearance. Creager remained in custody Wednesday on $20,000 bail.
