Assembly candidates to hold forum

The Newport-Mesa Tea Party is hosting a forum next week that features four state Assembly candidates for the 74th District.

The session is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Halecrest Park Swim and Tennis Club, 3107 Killybrooke Lane, Costa Mesa.

Candidates scheduled to attend are Newport Beach City Councilman Keith Curry; Huntington Beach Mayor Matthew Harper; Irvine resident and former Santa Ana City Council candidate Karina Onofre; and Emanuel Patrascu, district director for 72nd District state Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach).

The 74th District includes Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and portions of Huntington Beach, Irvine and Laguna Woods.

Republican Assemblyman Allan Mansoor, a former Costa Mesa mayor, is vacating the seat this year to run for District 2 on the Orange County of Board of Supervisors.
