Biz News: Flying Miz Daisy vintage market this weekend in Costa Mesa

Share

Flying Miz Daisy, a vintage market that returns four times a year to the Hangar at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, will hold its spring edition from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Interior designers, decorators, vintage enthusiasts and nostalgia seekers can see home decor, specialty jewelry, clothing, furniture and art, along with special guests, demonstrations and workshops.

“This isn’t a swap meet or a flea market,” Flying Miz Daisy founder Charlene Goetz said in a statement. “We carefully select our vendors and require [that] the goods sold are truly authentic. We see fine pieces from Europe or Americana treasures from the Midwest. The sellers featured are small businesses at their creative best.”

General admission tickets are $8 and are good both days. The cost is $5 for senior citizens 65 and older. Children 12 and younger get in free. VIP tickets are available for early shopping from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday.

O.C. Market Place schedules ‘grand reopening’ event

The operator of the Orange County Market Place, the weekend swap meet at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, plans a free “grand reopening” event March 31.

Spectra, a fairgrounds concessionaire that is part of Philadelphia-based Comcast Spectacor, won approval from the Orange County Fair Board in 2016 to take over the Market Place lease formerly held by Tel Phil Enterprises of Newport Beach.

The festivities, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 88 Fair Drive, will include the Costa Mesa High School band and Taste of the Arts, a fundraiser with live entertainment to benefit the Community Outreach Alliance, a nonprofit youth activities organization. It also will feature art installations and a car show by the Cadillac Kings Car Club.

Concurrently, the Market Place will offer face painting and Easter egg and scavenger hunts, plus a burger-naming contest and a wine tasting and sampling event.
