Wrestling: Mesa pins Northwood

COSTA MESA - Costa Mesa High won the first eight matches, then lost

the final six, before holding on Thursday for a 45-36 Pacific Coast

League wrestling victory over Northwood on the Mustangs’ mats.

Matthew Grubisich, who won Costa Mesa’s fifth straight to open the

contest, pinned his 130-pound Northwood opponent in 35 seconds, the

quickest victory of the night.

Carlos Ibarra and Jorge Alvarez won by forfeit for Mesa, while Gabriel

Felix (119), Silvio Estrada (125), Benedick David (145) and Grubisich

pinned their opponents. Adam Donovan (135) and Doug Amburgey (140) also

own easily. The Mustangs improved to 5-3, 2-0 in the PCL.
