Development website launches

The Newport Beach Community Development Department has launched a new website that makes it easier for architects, property owners and others to work with the city, officials announced this week. The site has an improved “plan check status” page that summarizes the latest comments and approvals by members of each of the department’s divisions, among other features.

Formed in January when the City Council consolidated the Planning and Building departments, the Community Development Department inspects buildings, enforces city codes, processes planning applications and handles other functions. Its formation is part of an ongoing restructuring of city departments that the current council has made a priority.

Department officials said they plan to roll out more features on the website in coming months.
