No arrests made at DUI checkpoint

Costa Mesa police handed out nearly 40 tickets but made no arrests at a recent DUI checkpoint, officials said Tuesday.

Police stopped 663 of 797 cars that passed through the stop at Bristol Street and Randolph Avenue, and conducted seven field sobriety tests Monday evening.

Officers issued 39 tickets and impounded 16 vehicles.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by the state Office of Traffic Safety.
