Three injured in two-car crash

Three people were injured in a two-car crash in Newport Coast on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

At about 3:30 p.m., two cars collided at San Joaquin Hills Road and Newport Coast Drive, and both ended up with front-end damage, fire department officials said. One person was taken to Western Medical Center's trauma center in Santa Ana with moderate injuries and two were taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian with minor injuries.

Police are investigating what caused the crash.
