Company honored with Prospector Award

The California Council for Excellence named Newport Beach-based McCarthy Building Companies as a recipient in the California Awards for Performance Excellence, the company announced this week.

McCarthy was awarded the CAPE Prospector Award. The company was the only general contractor among this year’s honorees, according to a news release.

“The commitment of these organizations to the principles and core elements of the Baldrige criteria is truly inspiring to everyone,” according to a prepared statement from Brent Duggleby, chairman of the CAPE Council, about the awards that follow the criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program. “Each organization that participates in the process gains, and these organizations that are being recognized are exceptional examples of excellence.”

The CAPE awards recognize businesses that demonstrate excellence in leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce focus, process management and results, according to the release.
