Bank robbery suspects arrested

A Laguna Beach parolee and two other suspects were taken into custody Tuesday morning in connection with the U.S. Bank robbery Monday afternoon, according to the Orange County Sherriff’s Department and Laguna Beach Police Department.

Bill Wright Wells, 22, was arrested with two charges of bank robbery. He was considered at-large by his parole officer. Miliano John Trujillo of Aliso Viejo and Daniel Nathan Hansen of Laguna Niguel were also arrested and being held on $100,000 bail.

All three are also the suspects in a Lake Forest bank robbery May 16.

At 4:22 p.m. Monday, dispatchers received a 911 call from an employee at the U.S. Bank on Glenneyre Street, saying a man approached a teller with a note indicating he was robbing the bank and threatened to hurt her if she didn’t hand over the money. No weapon was seen or used during the robbery. There were no injuries.

The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of cash, and he then fled southbound on Second Street, according to a release.

On May 16, a suspect robbed a Citi Bank in the 20000 block of El Toro Road. He had a similar description and also passed a threatening note to a female teller.

Police released photos early Tuesday morning of the suspect, who was described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with dark hair and in his early 20s. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark colored sweatshirt, white tennis shoes and an off-white colored baseball hat.

Laguna Canyon backed up after crash

A driver lost control of his vehicle, crashing into a light pole and taking down parking meters as he rolled over several times in the 900 block of Laguna Canyon Road at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The man was driving westbound. Due to the accident, Laguna Canyon Road was narrowed to one lane for almost two hours.

There were no other cars involved, police said.

The driver is at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. Police do not know his condition.

Stranded male turns out to be teacher

A man was reportedly stranded on the rocks at Shaw’s Cove 10:56 a.m. Thursday.

Officers and Laguna Beach Lifeguards responded to the call, which turned out to be a school teacher who got stuck while attempting to show his class the tidepools.

The teacher walked out to Contina Point during high tides and slipped on jagged rocks, causing an injury. The subject was carried to an awaiting ambulance.

Son and father’s boyfriend fight

A 17-year-old reported at 10:09 a.m. May 20 that his father’s boyfriend was refusing to let him leave after an argument in the 3000 block of South Coast Highway.

The boyfriend was arrested for misdemeanor battery, false imprisonment and domestic violence.

Domestic violence alleged against former employee

A disturbance turned out to be an alleged domestic violence dispute in the 2000 block of Solana Way at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

A resident called authorities after he said a former employee came to his home and was bothering him.

It turned out that the two men had dated but were no longer together.

Injuries were minor. The former employee was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

Skateboarder collides with vehicle

A skateboarder hit a vehicle at Catalina and Shadow Lane at 6:31 p.m. Tuesday.

The 15-year-old boy was not wearing a helmet and was “bombing” Shadow as he neared Catalina. Instead of stopping at the stop sign, he turned right and did not yield to a vehicle traveling northbound on Catalina, causing him to crash into the car’s front fender.

He was thrown onto the hood of the car, landed on the roadway, suffering a blow to his head. He had no visible injuries but complained of head pain so he was taken to Mission Hospital.
