Hoag president named as ‘influential executive’

Leading health-care industry news providers Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician named Hoag Hospital President and Chief Executive Dr. Richard Afable as one of “50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare,” the hospital confirmed.

The annual list compiled by the Crain Communications-owned publications is considered among the highest honors for physician executives, according to a news release.

“This recognition represents the hard work and dedication of Hoag physicians, nurses and staff, as they are the engine that drives us forward,” Afable said in a prepared statement. “I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to work with this team.”

More than 11,700 reader nominations were considered for the list, according to the release.

Afable joined Hoag in 2005. Formerly, he served as executive vice president and chief medical officer at Catholic Health East and as president and chief executive of Preferred Physician Partners.
