Taste of Laguna coming Sept. 27

The Taste of Laguna and Business Expo will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the upper level of the Glenneyre Parking Structure, 400 Glenneyre St.

The event, put on by The Chamber of Commerce, will offer food from local restaurants, music and community and business booths. Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the door.

Workshop planned for Downtown plan

The Laguna Beach Planning Commission will hold a community workshop for the Downtown Specific Plan at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the City Council Chambers, 505 Forest Ave.

The commission will hear recommendations from community members, downtown business owners, downtown property owners, and design professionals regarding a potential amendment of the Downtown Specific Plan, according to a city press release.

Annual Harvest Celebration on Sept. 29

Transition Laguna Beach and the Neighborhood Congregational Church are hosting a community celebration from 3 to 9 p.m. Sept. 29 at the church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive.

The event will feature food and fun. There will also be a potluck, silent auction and live music. Admission is free, with food and alcohol sales benefiting both groups, according to news release.

Deadline approaching for nonprofit grants

The deadline to apply for the 2012 Laguna Beach Community Foundation Grants program is Sept. 21, according to a news release.

The program is open to all qualifying nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations that are in good standing and provide services or programs in Laguna Beach.

About $50,000 of the overall grant funds will be distributed to environmental and ecological pursuits, according to a news release.
