Ruth Barbara Weiblen September 30, 1934 - September 25, 2013

Ruth Weiblen of Newport Beach passed peacefully from this life following a brain aneurysm at age 78. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach on Monday, October 21 at 11 a.m. A private internment took place on October 3 at Pacific View Memorial Park.

Ruth was born in Richville, Michigan to Elmer and Agnes Weber. She was the second of five children. She attended Vassar High School and Western Michigan University. She married Jack Weiblen on November 27, 1965. Her life’s work included Assistant Medical Record Librarian at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Her life’s love consisted of raising daughters Kerry and Stacey. She served as President of the Nightingale Guild of the Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach Auxiliary. Ruth’s vital passions in life were God, her family, and helping others; she was known for her creative Christmas gingerbread houses.

Ruth was active in several churches over the years, including St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church the past 26 years where she served as a Deacon. She volunteered supporting many charitable endeavors, including Royal Family KIDS’ annual Camp event. Her participation in the “Bridge Group”, comprised of women who grew bonds of friendship over several decades, was a much anticipated activity wherever they gathered each year in Colorado, Las Vegas, San Diego, Tucson, La Quinta, Nipomo, or Orange County. Ruth is remembered for her wit and sense of humor, her twinkling blue eyes, beautiful smile, cute laugh and the kind gentle way she treated everyone.

Ruth is preceded in death by her younger brother Eugene, and her parents, Elmer and Agnes Weber. She is survived by her husband Jack; daughter Kerry Rhodes, son in law Ken and grandsons Jackson, Trenton and Nolan, (Newport Beach, CA); daughter Stacey Garner, son in law Charles and granddaughter Rachel, Atlanta, GA; and Brother Don Weber, Sisters Shirley Weber, and Marie Atkins, (Michigan).
