High School Roundup: Sage Hill 8-man football wins CIF Division 1 playoff opener

Finn McClintock threw for three touchdowns, and the Sage Hill School 8-man football team routed San Jacinto Valley Academy 57-22 on Friday night in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs at Ramer Field.

Ben Romeo had a receiving touchdown and an interception return for a touchdown for Sage Hill (9-1), and Michael Sherlock had a fumble recovery for another score.

Christo Karahalios and Jake Nadelman both had rushing touchdowns for the Lightning. Coach BJ Crabtree said the offensive line, led by Dhruv Patel and Christian Moyano, turned in a strong performance.

Sage Hill, the Express League champion, hosts Canoga Park Faith Baptist in the quarterfinals on Nov. 15.

FOOTBALL

El Monte 60, Ocean View 21: Braden Crabtree threw for two touchdowns for the visiting Seahawks in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 12 playoffs on Friday.

Brandon Alcaraz and Hunter Arce each had a touchdown catch. Anthony Ramirez also had a rushing touchdown for the Seahawks (7-4).

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Huntington Beach 10, Yorba Linda 8: The Oilers advanced in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on Friday at home.

Huntington Beach (18-4) hosts Troy in the quarterfinals on Monday.
